Foreign Minister holds talks with British counterpart

The two sides pledged to spur the prioritized and potential linkages in economics, trade and investment.
The British side committed to continued ODA provision for Viet Nam especially in the aspects of poverty reduction, climate change response as well as education.
The UK underlines the support for better ties between the Southeast Asian nation with the EU, the recognition of Viet Nam’s market economy, early signing of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and higher trade volume and FDI at US$4 billion and US$3 billion in 2013, respectively.
The UK will assist Viet Nam in developing a world-class university in the central city of Da Nang and support overseas Vietnamese students.
Both sides agreed to jointly celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2013 by launching a series of cultural and tourism activities.
Both FMs took the occasion to exchange views about international and regional issues of common concern.
Regarding the East Sea, they stressed the importance of ensuring security and free navigation on international maritime routes and settling disputes through peaceful solutions on the basis of international law.
They also reached agreement to enhance the linkages among the two Foreign Ministries to contribute to the multi-faceted ties between Viet Nam and the UK./.
