National Assembly delegation visits Finland and Norway
Berlin (VNA) – A delegation of the Council of Ethnic Minorities of the National Assembly, led by its Vice Chairman Ma Dien Cu, paid working visits to Finland and Norway from November 24-December 4.
During its stay in Finland, the delegation worked with the council for ethnic minority affairs of the Parliament, the committee for environment matters, the Ministries of Environment, Justice, Social Affairs and Health and the Interior, the Helsinki Tropical Research Centre and the Helsinki University.
Hosts and guests exchanged views on legal matters and policies relating to ethnic minority groups, poverty alleviation for these groups of people, environment, forest protection and development. They also discussed migration from rural areas to urban centres, government and parliament agencies’ activities in the areas of environment, ethnic minority and development of underprivileged areas.
In Norway, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the deputy speaker of the Norwegian parliament, Carla Hansen, worked with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Environment, Labour and Social Affairs, the standing committee for local authorities and public administration, the department for local management and rights of ethnic minority people. It visited the parliament house and attended a session of the Norwegian parliament.
The delegation studied and discussed issues on discrimination, human rights, democracy and corruption prevention, migration and immigration, rights of ethnic minority people, government and parliament agencies’ tasks on ethnic minorities.
